So I have been thinking about doing a blog for a while now. But thoughts like "Do I really have anything to offer or to say that would interest anyone" or "What if I don't do it right?" But today, on my way home from CrossFit, in my car, I began thinking about it again and just decided to sit down and DO IT. I mean, is there a RIGHT way to do it? Who sets the rules here? I believe if something keeps coming into your mind, whether it be a person or thought, it is probably God's way of telling you that you need to take some action.
So here I am, on a Saturday morning at 9:58 am, sweaty, yet happy from going to CrossFit (thanks CrossFit Carnivore) making an effort to express myself through written words.
I will start with a little info about myself. I have just turned 53. I was born and raised, and still live in Georgia. I have a twin brother (also in Georgia). I have 3 brothers, 1 sister, and 2 stepbrothers. My father was military, died when I was 2 years old. I'll talk more about that later. Mama died 2 years ago. Mama remarried (hence the stepbrothers). I made typical teenage mistakes, some of them DOOSIES. But, God had plans for my life, and I put my amazing husband in my life when I was 19, and we have an adult son now, of whom we are very proud. I have learned a lot about myself over these 53 years...some good things, some bad things. I learned recently (shouldn't I know this by now?) that I like to be in control. Also, I have figured out that I am not moody and am generally a happy person to be around. I am quite social. I am a Christian (maybe I will talk more about that later too).
I have many interests. One of my biggest interests is CrossFit. I love music too. At one point I also was into scrapbooking and running. And of course, cute clothes. It is funny how you change over the years and find yourself doing things you never thought you would be doing.
So that takes me back to CrossFit (doesn't everything take me back to CrossFit?!) anyone who knows me knows I jokingly call myself a "remedial" CrossFitter. There is a actually a lot of truth in that. I am a little slow in application of movements, but I keep trying. I also like to call myself a "boutique" CrossFitter...in other words, I like CrossFit because it makes me look strong and fit, but because I apparently have NO fast twitch or slow twitch muscle fibers, I cannot lift super heavy or run very fast (**insert laughter emoji here**). Seriously, though, it is CrossFit that brought me to the very idea of starting this business.
I decided one day that I wasn't young, and I wasn't old. I actually stopped and looked up the word middle-aged. And the standard for middle-aged is 45-60 years old. My IG handle is middleagedcrossfitter. So I thought, I wonder if I could make a t-shirt for all of us middle-aged, masters athletes? I hooked up with another CrossFit clothing manufacturer, 7 Five Clothing (go check them out) by listening to a podcast about CrossFit (the One More Rep Podcast - check them out too!) and everything seemed to fall into place. My first Ageless shirt was manufactured. I posted about it online and 24 hours later I was sold out of 25 shirts. So I ordered some more, and the next time I sold out in 48 hours. Heyyyyyy....I might be on to something here.
So MAC Apparel (parent company) was born and my son thought the name of the line should be Ageless Athletics. It DOES have good syncopation. So, we ran with it. And here I am, making a go of it. I can't take all the credit tho. My son, his girlfriend Mackenzie, (who designed my website) and my husband have helped me so much. Also, a big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported my business.
So that's my story. Of course there is more to it, but maybe those details can come out along the way. If you have read this far, you are not only amazing, but you must be bored (**again, insert laughing emoji here**). JUST KIDDING. Thank you for reading my first blog. Surely it can only get better from here.
Wishing good health to everyone who took a few moments out of their life to read this. Hugs and love Michelle, Middleagedcrossfitter from Georgia.
